It was the contrast and composition and the shapes found in this image of Rosamund Pike for her ‘Modern Weekly’ photoshoot that I was really trying to capture. Obviously with portraits, getting the persons likeness is pretty important in most cases, but today I honestly was more interested in how I could and would use straight lines and hard angles with soft, curved lines. And how I would keep the drawing as simple as possible, using as few brush strokes as I could (got a bit distracted from that intention this while I was doing the hair).
I used my new Zig Clean Color Real Brush pen, which I’m still getting used to. It’s water-based, so I had some fun smudging some areas with a lighter marker to add some extra depth to the shadows. And overall, I’m happy with it. Loving the black white and red theme!
There are tons of challenges like this out there. The latest and most tempting I’ve heard of is the #weeklyfive where you complete 5 drawings
Don’t judge a book by its cover. Right? Only… I can’t be the only person out there that fills their sketchbooks and notebooks
