If you’re into art process videos, I’m sure you’ll have heard of this one. The rules of the three-marker challenge are simple;
You now have to use them, and only those three, to colour your drawing. Now, you can sketch out your drawing before picking your markers to ensure that you don’t make things easier for yourself by- for example- picking two greens and a red and deciding to draw a rose. Or you can wait until you’ve chosen your markers and let the colours you pick inspire your drawing.
So, what to draw? In my opinion, the best way to challenge yourself is to draw a person. Trying to figure out how to work with unusual skin-tones is not only fun, but a great eye-opener for the colour possibilities and combinations you’d never thought of.
You can also use things like a white gel pen to add highlights or a black pen for outlines.
